The Pixel3 team recently had the privilege of working with the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) to produce a series of 10 multilingual and in-language videos designed to help different cultural communities across the state understand how to enrol and vote.
As a proudly multicultural country, Australia is home to people from a wide range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds. For many community members, English is not their first language, and that can present real barriers when it comes to understanding civic processes like enrolling to vote.. That’s why it’s vital for information about voting be made available not just in English, but in a range of languages and formats that reflect our population.
By producing this multilingual video series, the VEC ensures that more people, regardless of their language background, have the opportunity to understand and participate fully in the democratic process. We're proud to have supported them in this important work.
Each video in the series guides viewers through the key steps of enrolling and voting in Victoria, explained clearly, and in-language. From Arabic to Mandarin, Cantonese, Turkish, Khmer, and beyond, the series reflects the real diversity of Victoria’s communities.
This video, produced in Arabic, is a great example of how in-language video content can be both practical and empowering, allowing people to access critical information in a format they trust and understand.
This was a logistically complex project, with filming taking place across 10 different locations to accommodate the unique needs of each language group and speaker. From scheduling and managing talent to ensuring consistency across all versions, our team coordinated tightly to deliver high-quality outputs on time. It was a true exercise in precision planning, cultural sensitivity, and creative problem-solving.
To enhance viewer engagement, each video incorporated a blend of live-action footage and custom animations. While the primary content was delivered by a speaker on camera, the addition of animated sequences helped break up the visual structure, making the information easier to absorb and adding interest and colour to the final product. These animations illustrated key steps in the voting process, providing visual cues that supported understanding across language barriers.
At Pixel3 Video Productions, we specialise in producing clear, engaging, culturally sensitive video content for organisations that need to connect with multilingual audiences. Whether it's for civic education, health, government services, or community outreach, we understand how important it is to get the tone, format, and language right, because that’s what makes the message accessible.
Projects like this one with the VEC are a powerful reminder of how thoughtful communication, in the right language, with the right approach, can truly make a difference.
